Today, while I thought about Big Important and Weighty things, we did small things:

happy faces at breakfast

learning about tens and hundreds

playmobil knights and castles

reading books about baby animals, squeaky shoes, the Statue of Liberty

“hockey” in slippers across wood floors, candles and Ella Fitzgerald with dinner, a round of games, bedtime.

And while I listened to the TV reporting projections and reports, I sewed sweet pajamas for my baby girl. Pink rosebuds on soft flannel: perfect.
