in the meantime, coffee:

While I was doing my best to walk my body into labor, Ryan had his own excitement going on:

The opening of Church & State Coffee Co.

Ryan is an all or nothing guy. An idealist. An obsess-over-the-details kind of man. It’s the little things that make him tick: the way the leather breaks in on his favorite pair of boots; the subtle layering of electric guitar in his new favorite song; the perfection of Helvetica; the way his hands fit just right around that particular espresso cup. And he’s been the same way about coffee for as long as I can remember. So no surprise that his first company would be built around those things: coffee, and all of the details that make it just right.

But why a coffee company now? It’s only been 10 years that he’s been talking coffee shops, coffee roasting, coffee companies. Why this year?

This year, his love for coffee found traction when it met with an idea for changing our culture. Ryan and his friend Gabe have set up C&S to work with affiliates, who will earn a buck for every pound of coffee purchased. That’s a large amount of their proceeds going directly to people who are making a difference in the world — the kind of difference we want to be involved in. If we’re spending money on coffee, doesn’t it make sense to make that money work for us, instead of against?

Why will you love Church & State Coffee? Simple. Because it’s really good.

Why should you try Church & State Coffee? Even simpler: Because you care. You care where your dollars go.

Church & State roasts to order every Monday, ships Tuesday. That means you have until midnight today to get your order in.

(Yes, roasts to order. Freshness is a detail that just can’t be ignored.)
