Oh they are so cute (the legs, I mean!) No, just kidding, the pants are
perfect. Just the right length, cute and comfy. I love clothes like that for kids!

What a great idea. Asher so could use some fun play pants. I’ve only attempted pillow covers and curtains. For some reason clothes scare me!!

    Awesome pants!
Do you buy your patterns at a store or find them elsewhere? On-line? At the library?
    I’m totally clueless. But curious.
    Clueless but curious. Yeah.

@Lisa: I don’t use too many patterns. Actually, clothes have intimidated me in the past few years — which is silly, since that’s what I first learned to make. But patterns seems pricey (they are, unless you hit a great sale), and I usually can get something on the sale rack at Gap for less than a pattern and fabric.

BUT, basic kid clothes I’m finding are pretty easy to make. Kids have nice straight figures with no weird curves to navigate — and they don’t worry too much about whether or not the pants flatter their backside. :)

So, here’s what I’ve started to do:

First, if you google tutorials, for anything under the sun, you’ll find links. Tutorials are just free directions for how to make stuff, and often times include pictures or diagrams of patterns that help you understand how all that stuff works.

Second, find a simple garment, and trace it, and recreate it! It doesn’t always turn out the first time for me, but most of the time, if it’s simple enough and if I leave plenty of room for seams and errors, I end up with something I’m happy with.

That’s all the tricks I have up my sleeve so far!
